Overview

We are looking for art and design mentors to support children and young people with a variety of wellbeing and educational needs. Building their knowledge and skillsets in a variety of creative artforms, instilling them with key transferable life skills and providing opportunities for them to grow and succeed.

Duties

  • Deliver 1:1 and 2:1 creative sessions
  • Build young people’s knowledge and skillsets in creative arts
  • Develop individualised learning plans based on students’ individual needs
  • Assist students in understanding subject-specific content
  • Provide feedback to students and parents on progress
  • Utilise various teaching methods to engage students
  • Support students with special education needs

Mandatory

  • Experience in Art and Design
  • Enhanced DBS – On Update Service
  • Self Employed
  • PLI Insurance

Desired

  • Experience working within alternative provision setting (this is not compulsory)
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience working with SEND – a high number of young people here have Autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties
  • Comfortable working in an environment around other coaches and other young people
  • Proficiency in tutoring and educating students
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of special education practices is advantageous
  • Diverse range of creative disciplines required (see below for desired)
  • Illustration, fine art, textiles, graphic design, design technology, photography
  • Understanding of Adobe creative Cloud (preferable but not mandatory)

Pay

  • £25/hr 1:1 session
  • 2:1 sessions and pay TBD
