MBN ARTS delivers a diverse variety of creative programmes, where young people have the opportunity to expand their creative knowledge and skillsets. Each of our coaches specialise in the different artforms and are here to provide a unique experience tailored to you. Below shows our most popular subjects.
Street Art & Graffiti
Explore the contemporary world of street art and graffiti, through practical and theory-based projects. Learn the history of the art form, and the media and skills sets used by the artists that live within this sub-culture. At our provision we offer a progressive journey, incorporating typography, characters and cartoons, stencil making and much more. Participants experience all aspects of this art form and grow their knowledge of the artform within industry and design and get to regularly paint on our 40ft external spray painting wall!
Illustration
Explore traditional and contemporary illustration, using a variety of creative mediums and materials, both via analog and digital methods. Find your illustrative / artistic style and understand the art form in full.
Fine Art
Fine art is a visual and audible artform created using a variety of mediums and techniques, focusing on aesthetic, concept and meaningfulness. This includes mark making with pencils, charcoals, pastels, paints etc.
Graphic Design
From traditional hand-crafted design to contemporary digital graphics, you will investigate the relationship between typography and imagery, illustration, branding and advertising, editorial design and much more. You will explore the design industry, discovering design from around the globe and all manner of cultures. Opportunities include visits to design studios, galleries, shows and also interviews with creatives in industry.
Textiles & Fashion
In a progressive digital world, there is still a love of the beauty of hand-crafted designs. From origami and puppet making, bookmaking, book binding, paper mechanics, fashion and textiles, our students can explore them all.
Design Technology
An incredibly broad subject, utilising knowledge and skillsets in mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Young people design and create products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Also some designs are created for artistic expression alone.
Print and Binding
In a progressive digital world, there is still a love of the beauty of hand-crafted designs. From Lino printing, relief painting, origami, bookmaking, book binding and paper mechanics. They can explore them all.
Film & Photography
There is much more to photography and film making than just pointing a camera. Our programmes and projects will invite you to explore all aspects of the practise, including techniques and the different equipment used. From Image making, understanding composition, story boarding, script writing, art direction, audio capture and much more. You will also learn to use the essential design softwares to create high quality final outcomes.
Animation
From shooting music videos, your own documentaries or a stop-motion animation, we’ve got a project just for you! Similarly to our film programmes and projects, discover the world of animation and how to bring your creations to life! This includes learning all there is to know about the animation softwares Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro, how to project plan, storyboarding, conceptually designing, directing, sound production and more!
Woodwork
Workshops and courses exploring woodwork and carpentry, from creating bird boxes and catapults to sculptures, models and architectural structures. Young people safely learn the skills and techniques of this artform while incorporating elements of maths and technical drawing.
