A day at Churchill Gardens

 Alleyways are being given a makeover in Boscombe by two groups, a collaboration between health organisation C3 and MBN Arts. It aims to make shared spaces cleaner, safer and greener for local residents, by installing murals and holding community clean ups. The Project’s first mural, completed Jack Kellythorn, is situated on Borthwick Lane, an alleyway between St Clements Road and Borthwick Road (adjacent to Churchill Gardens) notorious for fly tipping and drug use.

“The idea was to capture the concept of Churchill gardens, the plant life and the nature that inhabits the area along with the theme of growth within the community.

It has been a fantastic start to the Borthwick Lane community arts project and the overwhelming positive responses and interactions we have had from the local residents during and post painting the first mural have been incredible.

“We hope it will bring a new lease of life to the alleyway, so we can start regenerating these spaces for people to use and feel safe in doing so.”
