Join us at Jewell Academy Primary School, for up to 3 days this summer, exploring the exciting world of urban arts and the subculture of hip hop!

On arriving your child is welcomed by the MBN ARTS team and will join the rest of the group for an introductory presentation to kick off the day. Here they will explore the fascinating history of the hiphop subculture. Street Artists and their incredible artworks, Street Dancers and their expressive dance moves, and DJs and MCs with their inspiring music!

Now they are feeling inspired to get creative themselves, it’s time to make sure they all have the energy needed for the activities, by providing each of them with a healthy hot meal!

Batteries charged and ready to go, the children are split into two groups. The first group joins coach Mike to find their inner Street Artists. It’s time to pick up those spray paint cans and really get creative with some stencil art. Our coach will first set you them up with all the safety equipment, including full 3M respirator masks, and explain how to safely use the equipment. Mike will be close at hand every step of the way. They will then learn all the techniques and skillsets, and when ready, get stuck into painting their very own stencil art! Experimenting with colour, textures and patterns and using our full range of lasercut stencils. These include animals, lettering, shapes and much more! Once painted, the artworks will be put aside to dry, ready to be taken home at the end of the day. Now it’s time for this group to put their skills to the test, and together great a huge collaborative artwork!

Meanwhile the second group have been busy finding out what it’s like to be a real life Street Dancer! Coach Darren (ex-world champion popper and locker) will lead them step-by-step through the foundation skill sets of Street Dance and moves for being a hip-hop dancer. Feet moving and stamping, bodies spinning, arms waving in the air. As their confidence grows and grows, our coach will put them to the test, through group games and challenges. Finally, if any of them are feeling they have their moves locked down, maybe even a dance battle! These activities perfectly combine creative expression, physical activity with a whole heap of fun!

Once both groups are finished, the 2 groups will switch over, so they can fully experience all the activities.

To finish, you will celebrate what you have achieved together, by playing some sporty hip-hop games, and afterwards they can share the amazing things you’ve created with your loved ones!

This club is for children aged 7 to 11 years old and focuses on helping them to be expressive and to see learning can also be fun! Our staff are all DBS checked, insured and fully trained. Every session has a coach who is first aid trained.

Our sessions have strict drop off and collection times to ensure everyone is safe and gets the full benefit of the session. Start time is 12pm and pick up is at 4pm.

Please note that certain activities such as spray painting, are weather dependant. It is possible some activities will change, and we appreciate your patience and ensure you will still have a full fun packed experience.
