More information about this project
JM has been working on her first solo project: a cover of “Star No Star” by Jack Off Jill. We split the original track into stems, preserving the vocals and drums while giving JM the opportunity to record her own instrumental parts. JM learnt and practiced the guitar riffs, then recorded all rhythm guitar and bass guitar parts, we also kept the lead guitar from the original recordings for the solo.
This song has also become part of our live band repertoire, allowing JM to develop both her studio recording skills and live performance experience, switching between instruments, parts, and working towards getting the lead solo under her belt. Throughout the recording process, JM paid particular attention to achieving an authentic Classic Drive tone for her electric rhythm guitar, demonstrating her growing understanding of tone-shaping and production choices. – IMAGE A = The arrangement shows a clear verse/chorus structure with deliberate region placement.
JM has worked with both audio stems and MIDI/ instrument tracks, demonstrating skills in arranging, layering, and signal processing within Logic Pro.- IMAGE B = The mixing desk shows a selection of faders that we level the volume of each track with. It also shows the plug ins and signal processing chains that JM used with a mix of pre set tones and some modified ones.
