Scouts – Butcher’s Coppice

Butcher’s Coppice is a widely recognised Scout meeting activity site in Dorset, where hundreds of members visit every year to participate in bush crafts, outdoor activities and much more. Bournemouth’s 11th Scout Group wanted to set their children a huge creative challenge, of exploring the subcultures of street on graffiti, and using the skills they have gained to design and spray paint a 200ft mural onto the sites traversing climbing wall.

The project was split into three workshops. A creative skill learning workshop exploring how to use the art mediums required, a conceptual designing and planning session to produce a design which communicated what the Scouts are all about, and finally a full day of spray-painting to complete the mural.
